Meditation for Realists: 4-week curriculum
A month-long program tailored to the individual student or group. All levels of practice are welcome. Ongoing sessions available.
Type: One to one meditation sessions for illness/trauma/anxiety.
Length: Classes will be weekly one hour sessions, geared toward patients awaiting diagnosis, dealing with life threatening or chronic illness, anxiety, depression, or any challenges. The goal is to provide tools and techniques to manage the stress and anxiety that health-related issues present, enabling the student to self-regulate difficult emotion and manage the panic that often occurs when suffering from illness.
Purpose: It can feel like a ghost town when sitting in an examination room waiting for a doctor or nurse to arrive with information about one’s medical condition. Often, patients have no support, and HIPPA laws prevent entering the hospital system to approach people who may be interested in learning coping strategies to manage their stress. This ongoing series is specifically geared toward patients awaiting medical diagnosis, but may also apply to the chronically ill, patients with cancer or other serious illnesses, and anyone suffering from anxiety, allowing them to be more present and aware as they navigate difficult emotions pertaining to their health.
